Wanda Gag
(American, 1893-1946)
Fairy Story, 1937
lithograph
signed and dated with copyright symbol in stone lower left
9" x 12 1/4"

Provenance:
Paramour Fine Arts, Lathrup Village, Michigan (stamped on mat verso)

Catalog Note:
As described in a bio (attached to mat verso) written by American Artists Group, Inc., Wanda Gag's Fairy Story: "expresses the magic of the fairy story; is the very essence of any and all fairy stories within the frame of an imaginative composition. As always in Miss Gag's work, there is the marvelous sense of an enclosed composition. A great deal goes on within the frame but it is always under control at the boundaries. There is the same magnificent spatial sense characteristic of the artist's work. The eye goes around objects and feels the flow of air and distance beyond them. In spite of her fantastic distortion there is that subtle touch of realism that relates the whole picture to the known and experienced."
