Catalog Note:
John Scott Bradstreet designed interiors and furniture in the Arts and Crafts style but also looked abroad for inspiration, particularly to Japan. The entrance to his Minneapolis Crafthouse was crowned by a floral woodcarving that Bradstreet obtained from a Japanese temple. In this impressive secretary, similar to the entrance to his Crafthouse, Bradstreet incorporates an antique Japanese floral carving to create his own distinctive form.
