Catalog Note:
This lamp base was designed by W.D. Gates and the dramatic Prairie School shade was likely made by muralist and glassmaker Orlando Giannini. Gates and Giannini were good friends and frequent collaborators on other Teco lamps. The only other known example of this shade is at the Chicago Historical Society. This design is also reminiscent of the light fixtures designed by Marion Mahony Griffin (1871-1961) for the All Souls Unitarian Church in Evanston, Illinois.
