Catalog Note:
This rare and meticulously crafted humidor was included in Tiffany Studios' elite line of "Fancy Goods". The output of the items in this category was limited and only produced for a short period of time. This humidor is believed to have been carved from a single piece of wood, likely by Joseph Briggs. It was first offered through Tiffany & Co. and was listed in the firm's Blue Books from 1906 to 1912. This example is the only version we have seen where the scarab on the body of the box has cast bronze legs.
